The two most asked for are the animated backdrop and the halo effect. Both are straightforward to display; what decides whether they look right is the stage geometry — how far the screen sits behind the idol, how high it is, and how much of it the murti and the decoration cover.
Why a screen instead of a built backdrop
A cloth, thermocol or flex backdrop is a single fixed image for the whole festival. It is built, used for eleven days and discarded. A screen is the same surface running different content on Ganesh Chaturthi, on the days of the cultural programme, during aarti and on visarjan day — without anyone climbing the stage between them.
It also solves the visibility problem every committee already knows about. Past roughly the fifth row, people are watching other people. A relay screen puts the ritual in front of the whole pandal.
Sizing, and what it costs
A 12 × 8 ft screen suits most community pandals: large enough to read as a backdrop behind a six to eight foot idol, small enough to rig on a temporary structure. Larger committees with deeper crowds go to 16 × 10 ft or beyond, and at that point the viewing distance at the back should decide the pitch, not the budget.
Rental starts around ₹15,000 per day. A 12 × 8 ft screen with rigging, an operator and de-rig typically runs ₹35,000–₹80,000 for a single day, and festival-length hire is quoted as a package rather than per day. Purchase only makes sense for a mandap or hall running events year-round.

The practical constraints nobody plans for
- Power. A screen this size plus the sound system will exceed what a temporary domestic connection carries. Confirm the sanctioned load, or arrange a generator, at booking rather than on the morning.
- Weather. Ganesh Chaturthi falls in the monsoon, and a pandal canopy is not weatherproofing. If wind-driven rain can reach the screen it needs outdoor-rated panels and a covered controller position.
- Structure. A screen is a sail. Rigging one onto a temporary bamboo or pipe mandap needs the structure checked, and in an exposed location that is a real engineering question rather than a formality.
- Crowd safety. Cabling has to be routed clear of footfall and queue lines, and the screen must not narrow an exit route.
- Booking window. Committees finalise in the four to six weeks before the festival and rental capacity across the city commits early. The site visit is the step that runs out of time, not the booking.

Can an LED screen be used behind a Ganesh idol?
Yes — it is one of the most common festival uses. What matters is the geometry: the screen needs to sit far enough behind and high enough above the murti that the idol and decoration do not cover the visual, and the rigging has to be safe on a temporary structure. Both are settled at the site visit.
Can you create an animated chakra or halo effect behind the idol?
A screen will display that content, and it is a popular choice. Whether it reads well depends on the screen position and stage design rather than the panel. Visual content is discussed as part of the setup consultation — it is not automatically included, so ask before assuming a specific effect you have seen elsewhere is part of the quote.
Can we rent the screen only for the festival?
Yes. Rental is the normal arrangement for pandals — delivered, rigged, operated through the festival and struck afterwards. It starts around ₹15,000 per day, with festival-length hire quoted as a package.
What size LED screen suits a Ganesh pandal?

Do you supply the animations and devotional content?
Content requirements are discussed as part of the setup consultation rather than assumed. We would rather agree what plays on the screen before the booking than hand one over with nothing scheduled on it — that is the most common reason an event screen disappoints.
