Salt air changes the specification
Coastal installations corrode. Mild-steel structures that last a decade inland will show rust in a couple of seasons in Mangalore, and unsealed cable entries fail faster still. We specify galvanised or stainless structural work, marine-grade fixings and full sealing at every entry point for coastal sites. It costs more and it is not optional.

Do coastal conditions affect LED display life?
They affect the structure and the sealing far more than the panels. With galvanised or stainless structural work, marine-grade fixings and properly sealed cable entries, panel life is comparable to inland. Without those, the mounting fails long before the display does.
Does the coastal specification cost more?
The structure and fixings do — typically a modest premium on the fabrication line rather than on the display. It is worth it: the alternative is re-fabricating a rusted structure within three years.
