LED Board Power Consumption and Running Cost in India

What an LED display actually adds to the electricity bill, and the setting that halves it.

A shop-sized outdoor LED board typically adds ₹500 to ₹3,000 a month to the electricity bill, depending on size, brightness and running hours.

How to calculate yours

Outdoor panels are usually rated around 500–800 W per square metre at maximum brightness, with average consumption roughly 40% of that because real content is not full white. So:

  • Screen area in square metres × 600 W = peak draw
  • Peak × 0.4 = realistic average draw
  • Average kW × hours per day × 30 × your tariff = monthly cost

An 8 × 4 ft board is about 3 m². Peak roughly 1.8 kW, average around 0.7 kW. Running twelve hours a day at ₹8 per unit is about ₹2,000 a month.

Indoor is much lower

Indoor panels run at 800–1,500 nits rather than 5,000+, so consumption is a fraction of outdoor. A 10 × 6 ft indoor wall typically runs ₹400–₹900 a month at similar hours.

Check your sanctioned load

The peak figure matters more than the average when it comes to your connection. A large display can push a small commercial connection past its sanctioned load, and increasing that takes time. Check before ordering rather than on installation day.
